State of Play 25/2/21 Recap

State of Play

Sony’s latest State of Play livestream dropped last night and it was fairly underwhelming. The games that were mentioned in the stream were all smaller titles that we already knew about going in for the most part. One of the only new titles unveiled was Sifu, a third-person brawler from Absolver developers, SloClap.

The biggest piece of news from the stream was that Oddworld: Soulstorm is getting a release date on April 6th 2021. When a release date for an Oddworld game is the biggest new to drop, you know that it was a lacklustre stream.

Other news included was that Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on the 10th of June this year. This will apparently give PS5 players, “a wealth of graphical, gameplay and system enhancements.” Square Enix has also revealed that they are giving PS4 players a free upgrade to the PS5 version of the game.

Another game that was shown that we previously knew about, was Arkane’s new IP, Deathloop. We got a short, heavily edited gameplay trailer that didn’t really give us any new information. Deathloop is set for release on May 21st 2021 on PS5.

PSVR 2 Announced by Sony

The other games featured in the livestream included: Solar Ash Returnal, Knockout City and Kena: Bridge Of Spirits. Some of these games look fairly interesting but after the rumours floating around online of seeing more from God Of War: Ragnarok and Horizon: Forbidden West, I think it’s safe to say that fans were pretty let down.
